Pd-catalyzed coupling reactions


I am interested in Pd-catalyzed coupling and carbonylative coupling reactions of lactam-, lactone-, and thiolactone-derived vinyl triflates and phosphates for the synthesis of intermediates useful in pericyclic reactions such as hetero-Diels-Alder and electrocyclization (Nazarov) processes, as well as in gold-catalyzed reactions. Alkoxycarbonylation of the same enol phosphates gives rise to useful intermediates for the synthesis of polyhydroxylated piperidine alkaloids. Heterocyclic vinyl triflates (and phosphates) are very useful reagents for metal-catalyzed processes and significant advances in their preparation and use have been made in our laboratories. Novel classes of heterocyclic reagents have also been developed by either generation from the triflates of Weinreb amides or their umpolung to heterocyclic boronates.
